It has been almost a year since Carl did a watercolor painting (the previous splatter board painting was from excess paint mixed while creating this painting). Carl spent some time one day with some ingredients for pasta and photographed various combinations and arrangements on his counter top. From that he selected one of the paintings as a reference to create the painting above. After painting several acrylic paintings this watercolor project was a great change of pace. Carl says watercolor is more difficult for him because he has to accept the "artsy look" of the final painting (Carl has not mastered the ability to get watercolor to "go where he wants it to go", as he puts it). |
