Carl began his art hobby in the summer of 2001

Carl began his art hobby after returning home from a vacation to the Northern Woods of Minnesota. Every piece of artwork here was created using hours Carl used to use watching TV. Carl learns how to do things by reading books, and art was no different. Among the books he started with was one by Claudia Nice that showed how to do pen and ink drawings, complete with demonstrations.

The art in this beginning section is basic and rudimentary to be sure. But it turned out good enough to surprise Carl and encourage him to continue trying.
