When Carl returned home from
his annual trek to Minnesota in the summer of 2002 he was ready to try painting
with acrylic. He had already done 3 oil paintings but the potential of acrylic
painting seemed to open up the ability to create finer detail for him. Carl has
been fairly impulsive with his artwork running from one medium to another,
trying everything he can. So far there is no single medium for Carl that is
best, or that is his favorite. He says watercolor is probably the most
difficult. And if he had a favorite it would probably be acrylic. Pen and Ink
drawings are so extremely challenging because of the almost infinite detail you
can put into them. Carl is trying to get a handle on acrylic so he can
produce nearly the same level of detail he can with the pen and inks. And it all
started with the little kit painting above. |
