 This is the first watercolor painting that Carl did. The portrait features Carl's granddaughter from Iowa, Allie. The photo was taken during a Christmas-time outing to Disneyland. Carl joked that Allie would live on Coke and Doritos if you let her. 

Carl did a pen and ink and then went back with a watercolor wash and begin bringing the painting to life. Carl had a lot of fun trying to see just how much detail he could with watercolor. The butterflies on Allie's sweater combined with the rolls in the material that run vertical gave Carl the challenge he was looking for.
