"Pasta Time"

This evening Carl started working on the celery and knife. He commented that the close end of the celery is a bit more challenging than it appears. He is wondering if he should put a little of the brown (dirt) that was on the celery before he washed it in the original photo. Carl also sat a looked at the photo for a while to see what he's going to have to do to bring the counter tiles into the painting. "It's not just an off-white tile counter, it is a network of shadows, reflections, and color shifts, no matter how subtle." The size of this painting (11" X 14") is opening up the opportunity for better detail and resolution than Carl was able to achieve in his earlier watercolor paintings (which were 8" X 10").
