Carl has put some information here about some products and systems that work. Carl's daytime career is performing research (on broadcast radio properties and systems). When it comes to gadgets and processes Carl does a lot of reading before trying something new. Below you'll see a collection of links and references for things that aren't necessarily art - but things that Carl has proven work well.

Cameras and Photography

Panasonic
DMC-FZ10 Camera

Carl got himself this camera for Christmas 2003. He can't wait to get it into the north woods of Minnesota looking for wildlife.

This camera has an incredible 12X optical zoom lens and an electronic stabilization system that "holds the camera still" when you don't. Carl will post some of his photographs from this camera soon in the Photograpy section as reference photographs for artists.

Canon PowerShot  Digital Cameras

A lot of the photographs seen on artbycarl.com were taken by an earlier version of the Canon ELPH digital camera. Carl has one that is 2 megapixels. The one shown here is there newer version that is a 4 megapixel camera. Carl likes the ELPH cameras because they are so simple to use and they are exceptionally small. Carl has found he can take his PowerShot camera with him just about anywhere (it fits in small water-resistant belt pack).

A Diet that Works!

The G.I. Diet

Carl tried one of the "fad diets" this year after Christmas to take off some weight. But Carl loves vegetables and fruit - and he figures any diet to loose weight should first and foremost promote good health habits. The g.i. Diet seems to fill that bill. Check it out.

"This diet's different than others I've tried", Carl says. "This one doesn't promise fast weight loss or demand an induction phase of crash dieting. The diet is based upon creating a healthy intake of foods that don't blast your blood suger and then leave you hungry. I don't get hungry. I lost 16 pounds in the first month and I felt healthier than I have in years."

Update 05/31/04: Carl's down 30 pounds in 15 weeks.
