[BunnyTree Session 3]

 October 26, 2004 - See Narrative Below

"Bunny Tree", Acrylic
8" X 8" Acrylic on Wood Cigar Box

Carl's art work is impulsive in nature. That's to say he jumps around from idea to idea, media to media, and he tries various painting projects sometimes with no idea of what he's getting into. Such is the case with this project.

One of the magazine's Carl receives is a painting crafts magazine. One of the demonstrations caught Carl's eye. Carl has a friend who collects images of angels. With Christmas on the horizon Carl got to thinking that maybe he could make a hand painted gift for his friend using the template and image from the magazine. The magazine article suggested painting a rather large sled with the angel image but Carl wanted to do something small and intricate.

When Carl was in Michael's art store recently he saw some unfinished wooden cigar boxes. The were 8" X 8" X 1.5", just about right for a Christmas gift.

On the previous image you saw what the unfinished box looked like. Carl added a midnight blue paint to it and then did a rough sketch of the Christmas tree image onto the lid of the box. Over the next few sessions you'll see if Carl can reproduce the scene of bunnies, birds, and angels.

This painting is from a demonstration in PaintWorks Magazine (TM).

This project is a hand-painted acrylic image placed on a wooden cigar box.
