The image Carl has selected for this project will test his ability to do adequate lettering. He's finding it is difficult to recreate the fine lined lettering with multiple colors and the distinctive font style. It will be a few more sessions before he'll see if the lettering works or not.

Carl is also discovering that the black background he has laid down below the image will open the door for him to depart from the reference image as he allows some of the black to show through (it will also require 3 or 4 layers of paint with pure colors that have no white in them to cover up the black).

This painting is a recreation of an old John Deere image that promoted its Model D Tractor.

This project is a hand-painted acrylic image placed on a wooden cigar box.
