"Day's End", Acrylic Painting This evening Carl worked some more using a wet on wet process to make the colors in the sunset sky more vivid and dramatic. Carl wasn't too sure how it would work to paint on top of the wet on wet image he created in the last session. But he says it actually worked out pretty well. He certainly "turned up the color" tonight. Carl said only a small part of this strip of color will survive the evolution of this painting. A silhouette strip of pine trees goes through the area about halfway down the brightest part of the sky. You'll see this in the next session as Carl places a black strip across the canvas to test his contrast values and see how to develop the painting further. This painting is being created on an 18" x 24" stretched canvas. This project is an original acrylic painting based on a photograph Carl took while vacationing in Minnesota in 2004.
