"Nocturnal Awakening"
18" X 24" Canvas, Acrylic Painting
In this third session Carl is testing to see how much contrast he can achieve
between the brightest whites and the darkest darks. Carl is also playing with
the blacks and blues trying to mix colors similar to the night sky in his
reference photo. The reference photo has an interesting bright area on the left
horizon where the last glimmer of sun is making its stand. During this session
Carl also mixed some warm cream colored paint for some of the sky's
underpainting.This project is an original painting inspired
by a vacation photograph taken on Pelican Lake, Orr, MN
while Carl was
staying at the Aspen Resort during the Summer of 2003.
