Aspen Resort sits on the north side of Pelican Lake. Pelican is a huge but shallow lake with many sheltered coves and bays. There are many islands on the lake too.

This is what the resort looks like from the boat in the bay. Several cabins are spread around the resort's grounds. The trees are green and the ground is sandy. There are granite rock outcroppings both in the bay and on land. The glacial cut landscape is beautiful

A cabin with a view!

This is just one of the views available from one of the big cabins at Aspen. Each cabin is clean and fully outfitted for light housekeeping and a fun week in the woods.

The resort owners routinely improve the grounds and cabins each year. The log cabins are either renovated or completely built from scratch. Even if you don't feel like fishing or hiking you can just stretch out on the deck and enjoy the view.

The Fire Pit

 Each evening at 8 the resort's staff starts a fire in the center of the resort grounds inviting fisherman and families to exchange fish stories by firelight.

Many of the resort's guests return year after year, and often they schedule their visit on the same week as they visited the previous year. After a year or two you look forward to seeing old friends at the campfire in the evenings. Or if you're feeling anti-social on some evening, you can enjoy the campfire from the boat in the bay fishing. The cool evenings carry the sounds of children playing out to the boat to greet you. Later as the campfire burns down you find the path to your cabin illuminated by fireflies. Surprisingly this year there were no mosquitoes after dark, which made the walk to the cabin much more leisurely.
