Carl's Summer Vacation 2004
More Minnesota Sunsets

A Typical Sunset

This time of the year, each night about 9:15, the sun puts on a show as it hits the horizon. Minnesota is one place where you can almost always catch a pretty sunset shot if you have your camera handy.

As an artist the Creator's evening paintings never cease to amaze me.
Anyone who has tried to paint a sunset with a canvas and brush knows it is one thing to make a pretty scene while it is entirely another to create an image with infinite resolution using an infinite palette of color that changes every nanosecond.

A sunset with a gold sliver...

Wild Rice grows in the shallows of the bays on Pelican Lake.

The sunsets are a bittersweet reminder that a vacation day has come to an end. However, they also signal a peaceful night's rest is about re-energize you for another day of fishing and fun!

Polarized Reflections...

Carl experimented with his new camera and a polarizing filter to capture this shot.

I bought myself a new camera at Christmastime this year specifically looking forward to my Minnesota vacation. I got a couple of lens filters with the camera - one of which is a polarizing filter. This particular image was produced on a hazy (humid) afternoon as Carl rolled the filter around until he got the maximum contrast.

 Every night a new Sunset!

This view is in the bay right out in front of the Aspen Resort.

I try to get a good collection of sunset shots each year because they make great reference photos for paintings.

One More...

The 2004 Vacation Photos are coming to a close...

I had a great time again this year - and I've already made my reservations for next!

Until Next Year's Vacation I leave you with this closing shot...

The resort owner and his daughters return to the dock.

I ended this year's vacation relaxed and rested - at peace.
