"Day's End", Acrylic Painting After priming the strecthed canvas this evening, Carl put a very wet mixture of white gesso across the top section of the canvas and then began dabbing on red-orange color along with some yellow, orange and red, mixing it together on the canvas with the white gesso. You have less than 10 minutes with this process before the acrylic starts to dry and your blending is done. Carl uses a misting bottle to try to prolong the blending, but that doesn't add very much time to the process. Carl says he hopes to do more wet on wet blending in the next painting session to bring out more vivid colors on the painting to more closely resemble what he saw the night he took the reference photo for this painting. This painting is being created on an 18" x 24" stretched canvas. This project is an original acrylic painting based on a photograph Carl took while vacationing in Minnesota in 2004.
