[Frozen Tranquility 3]

                      March 4, 2005 - See Narrative Below

"Frozen Tranquility", Acrylic Painting
18" X 24" Stretched Canvas

In this second session Carl adjusted the color values of the blue horizon, added the dark cloud band in the middle, and set the stage for the snowy lower band on the painting. Carl still needs to lighten up the area of blue sky on the upper left of the canvas where a big tree goes.

Carl uses Clear Gesso with the blue colors in a wet on wet approach to developing the sky. It takes a little doing to blend a clear sky (any huge variations in value make it look fake).

This painting is being created on an 18" x 24" stretched canvas.

This project is an original acrylic painting based on a photograph Carl took in rural Southwestern Iowa.
