[Quiet Reflections 3]

                      April 10, 2005 - See Narrative Below

"Quiet Reflections", Watercolor Painting
11" X 24" Fredrix Watercolor Canvas

The watercolor canvas came with a Tips & Techniques paper that says one of the canvas's features is that watercolor will lift extremely easily from the canvas. To develop a deep color you must put several layers of watercolor over itself. The paper says to use a matte spray fixative to hold the first layer in place on the board if you don't wish to lift it. So, this is what Carl did this evening before applying the second layer of color you see here.

The reference scene has a deep blue sky and a blue black water surface with clouds reflecting across the entire sky and lake. Carl plans to get the water, sky, and orange / yellow horizon in place before adding the trees and clouds.

This project is being painted on an 11" X 24" Fredrix Watercolor Canvas Board.

This project is an original watercolor painting based on a photograph Carl took in the north woods of Minnesota on Pelican Lake near Orr..
