The Lake's Namesake: Pelicans
Just across the bay from the Aspen
Resort are some rocks that provide the Lake's pelicans with a roosting perch.
The dock boys run the fish cleaning remains out to the rock a couple of times
each day. The pelicans make a lot of noise and circle until the dock boy leaves,
and then its suppertime.
The pelicans, ducks, loons, and other water fowl keep the
bay alive as you fish and enjoy the scenery. There are seagulls too. On shore I
had a couple of Robins that kept me company out at the picnic table in front of
my cabin along with some pretty little bright yellow birds that looked a little
like canaries. Next year I'll have to get a birders guide so I can figure out
what all the various birds are.
